Learning Platform Event: The Role of Existing Network Organizations in Collaboration
In December, researchers and societal partners in the REWIRE project came together at Foodvalley NL for a new session of the Learning Platform. This interactive meeting focused on a central question in REWIRE: How can we better understand and support complex transitions—like the shift toward sustainable, nature-inclusive food systems—through collaboration?
Participants shared updates from ongoing research across several Dutch regions, exploring how transitions unfold in different contexts and what kinds of collaboration help move them forward. The session sparked new connections and plans for future joint activities, including work on governance and the role of transition organizations.
Guest speaker Maryse Chappin (Utrecht University) shared insights on how network organizations can help overcome barriers to change—by inspiring, connecting, lobbying, or sharing knowledge. A hands-on group exercise invited participants to reflect on where they “feel at home” in the transition landscape, revealing how values, trust, and shared purpose play a vital role in building effective networks.
The Learning Platform is becoming a key space within REWIRE for shared reflection, experimentation, and learning. With regular sessions planned throughout the year, the project continues to build insights into what makes collaboration work—and how it can accelerate systemic change for a more sustainable future.
