REWIRE – Leveraging new collaborations for circular agriculture missions

WP6: Learning Beyond REWIRE

WP6 aims to extend the impact of REWIRE by focusing on the development of human capital through the training and education of both current professionals and future talent in the agricultural sector. By preparing these individuals to become effective change agents, WP6 plays a crucial role in accelerating the transition towards circular agriculture. Change agents, equipped with the knowledge and skills to foster sustainable change, are seen as essential actors in embedding innovative solutions within businesses and society. This work package addresses the need for a comprehensive understanding of the complex challenges in agriculture and equips participants with the competencies necessary for effecting positive environmental and societal impacts.

We will conduct a thorough literature study on change agent education gathering insights from REWIRE partners to tailor the education modules to the project’s context. This foundational task aims to collate relevant educational strategies and practices that can be integrated into the development of the modules.

Development of Modules focuses on the creation of educational modules for training change agents, leveraging insights from the literature study and the expertise of REWIRE partners. These modules are designed to incorporate experiential learning and reflection-based pedagogies, aiming to build key competencies such as stakeholder management, systems thinking, and project management among participants.

Through institutional embedding we ensure that the developed modules are integrated into the curricula of educational institutions, making them accessible to master students and professionals seeking lifelong learning opportunities. This task aims to facilitate elective offerings through the EWUU alliance for master students and link professional modules to existing development initiatives.

We will train educators to prepare them to deliver the newly developed modules through a train-the-trainer course. This course will equip educators with innovative pedagogical techniques essential for guiding students and professionals in their learning journeys, emphasizing challenge-based learning and coaching.

We further develop and organize workshops and coaching in the form of intensive training for professionals and challenge-based learning courses for master students. These activities are designed to immerse participants in the conceptual knowledge relevant to circular agriculture missions and to foster personal reflection on their roles as change agents within their respective fields.

We will evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of the educational modules and their impact on participants. Through qualitative analysis of reflection reports and follow-up inquiries, this task evaluates the sustainability of the learning outcomes and the competencies applied by the participants in their professional environments.

Lastly, a PhD and Early Career Researcher Training offers specialized training sessions on mission-oriented innovation policy, innovation theory, and research methods. This task aims to enhance the research capabilities of early-career scholars, linking theoretical knowledge with practical research skills in addressing societal challenges.
