Publication alert: An Agenda for Economic Geography
In a commentary published in the journal Economic Geography, Koen Frenken (Utrecht University) together with several leading scholars in this field takes stock of transition studies and highlights how stronger links with economic geography can enrich the field. It shows how combining these perspectives helps to explain how technologies, institutions, and actor networks coevolve across scales, creating uneven opportunities for transformative change. The authors also emphasize the importance of understanding how material and institutional elements are socially shaped and aligned to tackle complex sustainability challenges. Finally, the paper opens up new ways to think critically about policy and justice issues in building more sustainable and resilient futures.
